An interactive personal finance course for teens

Through a unique approach of experiential learning and weekly financial coaching, Money Smart Academy equips teens with the decision-making framework and practical money management skills that are essential for a lifetime of financial wellness.

Teens need a strong financial foundation before they reach adulthood. The problem is, most financial education is boring, theory-only, and not relevant to the financial questions and issues that teens are facing right now.

That’s why Money Smart Academy was created. It’s designed to provide teens with a financial game plan that they can start using immediately. Best of all, the principles and skills they practice now will continue into adulthood.

Your teen will complete Money Smart Academy knowing how to avoid the common financial traps that entangle millions of Americans in debt and hardship. 78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and two-thirds cannot cover a $1,000 emergency without incurring debt. The unfortunate reality is that normal in our society means broke and financially stressed.

The good news is that with the right financial education, we can equip this generation for a lifetime of financial wellness and personal success.

Give your teen the gift of financial empowerment by enrolling them in Money Smart Academy today!

FAQs with Lauren

Q: When does the next academy session begin?

A: The next academy session begins Tuesday, July 2 and concludes August 13.

Q: What’s the teaching format like?

A: Once a week, we’ll have a group coaching session on Zoom. Zoom is a virtual meeting platform, making it convenient to participate in a class setting no matter where you are.

Between coaching sessions, the course has weekly action items and activities to complete. In addition to the reading and video materials, academy members play Money Mavericks, an interactive computer game that teaches financial concepts through experiential learning. It’s the combination of this experiential learning with the coaching and supplemental materials geared toward teens that makes Money Smart Academy truly one-of-a-kind. Instead of lectures and theory, teens learn in a real-world context and can apply their financial knowledge right away to their current goals.

Q: What if I can’t attend all of the sessions?

A: No problem, you can still take the class! Each session is recorded so you can watch it later, and you are always welcome to schedule a one-on-one coaching call.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of members in an academy session?

A: The course is capped at 20 members to ensure a productive group coaching environment and individual attention to each member.

Q: What if we have questions or want to talk more about a particular money topic?

A: Glad you asked! All members are encouraged to email me as they have questions, and they can also schedule one-on-one coaching calls anytime throughout the course.

Q: How much of a time commitment is the course?

A: Money Smart Academy is intended to be approximately a two hour commitment per week, in addition to the weekly coaching session. Depending on the individual, it could take less or more time to complete the weekly activities. However, you have lifetime access to the course materials and session recordings. I encourage you to go at your own pace and come with your questions to the coaching sessions.

Q: What age range is the course best suited for?

A: While all teens are welcome to enroll, this course is best suited for teens 15-19.

Q: So, I never learned how to manage money as a teen. Do you ever coach parents?

A: Absolutely! Please schedule a complimentary consultation here. I look forward to learning more about your goals and working with you!
